At least two police officers were killed and six people were injured in a bomb attack on a senior police officer in Karachi's upscale Defence Housing Authority (DHA) neighbourhood.
According to the Dawn, the attack on Thursday night targeted a convoy of SSP South Farooq Awan in DHA Phase 4.
The blast was audible far and wide and also disrupted power supply in the area.
The bomb attack reportedly destroyed the vehicle of the senior officer and majorly damaged another police vehicle escorting him.
IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali said that police has cordoned off the area and is collecting evidence from the blast site, adding that the bomb appeared to have been planted in a Suzuki pickup van which was remotely detonated.
The IG further ruled out the involvement of any suicide bombers in the attack.
