At least two persons were killed and several others injured in a Taliban-staged suicide car bombing near the U.S.consulate in Herat on Friday.
The dead were identified as being members of the Afghan security force.
The suicide bombing was carried out by five attackers.
The United State said none of its personnel were hurt in the attack.
News agencies quoted Qari Yousef Ahmadi, a spokesman for the Taliban, as claiming responsibility for the suicide attack.
