As many as two militants were killed in an encounter that broke out between them and the security forces near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
An army officer said that the soldiers of 17 JAK RIF and Baramulla Police who were manning the Lachipora forest area of Uri intercepted a militant group late yesterday evening.
"After being challenged, the suspected militants opened fire on the forces triggering off an encounter. So far, two militants have been killed during the gunfight," he said.
The encounter is currently underway.
