Acting on intelligence provided by an informer, the Punjab Police on Monday arrested two suspected Pakistani agents here. These agents are suspected to be conducting reconnaissance in India.
"The Ferozpur Cantt Police has arrested two men, who hail from Bhopal, who used to conduct recce at the border. These people used to click pictures and send it to Pakistan and we have arrested them as suspects for the same. We also found a lot of scorpions in their possession," an officer told mediapersons.
"The accused used to talk to a woman in Pakistan on a daily basis were sending her pictures and information. Money has been transferred for them from Pakistan," he added.
The police further stated that the case was still under investigation, especially in light of the recent blasts on the Pakistani side of the Wagah border.
"We are still investigating the matter. The accused have been linked with some people living in villages that are there on the other side of the border and we are trying to verify the same. This could be a case of smuggling as well as spying," the officer said.
The police have booked the accused under the Conspiring Against The Nation Act and the Animal Equality Act.
