Top ranked Serena Williams has defeated Carolina Wozniacki in straight sets in the U.S. Open and won her 18th Grand Slam title.
The world's number one player, won 6-3 6-3 at Flushing Meadows in New York.
Williams slowed down to take the first set following a poor start from both the players and found something approaching her best form to dominate the second, reported the BBC.
Williams has now won three successive titles at the U.S. Open.
The triumph moves her to joint-fourth in the all-time list of major winners, along with Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova.
Williams, while collecting the prize money, said that it had been a great feeling.
She won the title without dropping a set, or more than three games in a single set.
