The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), under the aegis of the FICCI Water Mission, will be organising an "India Industry Water Conclave" and '3rd Edition of FICCI Water Awards' on September 16 at the Federation House here.

Uma Bharti, Minister of Water Resources and Ganga Rejuvenation, will address the conclave.

Shashi Shekhar, Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Naina Lal Kidwai, Chairman India and Director HSBC Asia Pacific, Past President and Chairman, FICCI Water Mission; Dr. Jyotsna Suri, President, FICCI will also address the session.

A knowledge paper on water management in chemical industries will also be released during the conclave.

Bharti will also present the 3rd Edition of the FICCI Water Awards, instituted by FICCI in association with HSBC. The awards recognise the efforts by Indian industry, NGOs and technology providers in the areas of water use efficiency, management and conservation.

The crisis in water management, in addition to the declining water availability is due to the lack of awareness on the need to conserve water.

The FICCI Water Mission was constituted in 2011 to promote awareness and provide thought leadership in the area of water use efficiency through research, policy advocacy, and best practices sharing.

The conclave, therefore, will focus on the aspects of water conservation, management, sustainability and challenges that corporates face in addressing the water issues.

It will bring together diverse stakeholders from the corporate sector, government, academia, non-governmental organizations, civil society and financial institutions on a common platform for water conservation and management.
