Hollywood veteran Uma Thurman has blasted Hollywood for the distress women have to go through for a great role in the cinema industry.

According to People Magazine, the 47-year-old actress admitted that she was frustrated, particularly during her early career, because she was trying to be decent and work hard but was met with "contempt and dismissiveness toward women of all kinds."

Thurman noted, "A great cinema role comes along a few times. Maybe for some people, more often. But not everybody."

However, the 'Kill bill' star refused to talk about the accusations of sexual misconduct against Harvey Weinstein, who produced seven of her movies.

"I'll discuss it when I want to discuss it," said Thurman.

Uma previously admitted she felt too "angry" to speak about the recent Hollywood scandal.

In an interview last month, Thurman noted, "I don't have a tidy soundbite for you, because I have learned, I am not a child and I have learned that when I've spoken in anger, I usually regret the way I express myself. So I've been waiting to feel less angry and when I'm ready, I'll say what I have to say."

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Thurman is busy in preparing for her upcoming play 'The Parisian Woman'.
