Wayne Rooney denies having made any official request for his transfer and fears he is being forced for a way out of Old Trafford.

The now retired manager, Alex Ferguson had publicly insisted that Rooney had asked to leave the Trafford giants twice in the past three years. However the England striker is adamant that he was hoping to start discussions regarding a new contract but United appears to clearly want his exit from the club.

In a report by Mirror, it appears almost certain that the 27-year old may leave this summer. Reportedly, Ferguson dropped Rooney from United's biggest game of the season, the decisive leg of the Champions League, against Real Madrid.

This episode made Rooney fear that there is no way back for him at United. He was alarmed to see Sky pundit Gary Neville - his England coach and a former United team-mate - laughing about him asking for a transfer while conducting a TV interview with Paul Scholes, the report added.

It has left Rooney to believe that there was a deep undercurrent and determination in the club to sell him. He admits having cleared the air between him and Ferguson but retains the claim that he never made any official request.
