A nine-month-old infant in Uttar Pradesh's Banda city died after allegedly consuming polio drops.
The district authorities have constituted a probe panel to find out the cause behind the incident.
"It is unfortunate, this is first the time such a thing has happened. I will constitute a committee to investigate the matter. Appropriate action will be taken against the guilty," H Lal, the district magistrate of Banda said.
The relatives of the deceased claimed that after consuming polio drops on Wednesday, the health of the infant deteriorated. She was immediately taken to hospital where doctors declared her dead. The body has been sent for the post mortem.
More details are awaited.
