A six-month-old boy died after his father allegedly strangled him and smashed his body on the ground in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district on Tuesday.

According to a complaint lodged by the kid's mother Sangam, her son was killed by her husband Hari Shankar Yadav, a resident of Gaddipur village under Tadiyawan Police Station, on Tuesday morning.

Yadav strangled his six-month-old son and later killed him by smashing his body on the ground when she had gone to answer nature's call, the mother alleged.

She told the police that when she returned home, the body of her son was lying on the cot. She rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared the boy brought dead.

Sangam, who hails from Bihar, married Yadav five years back. The couple have two more children of four years and one and a half years of age.

Whenever her husband returned home in inebriated condition, he used to threaten her that he would kill their youngest child, she alleged, adding that he was in inebriated condition when he executed the crime.

Station House Officer of the Tadiyawan Police Station told ANI that the accused was arrested and they had sent the body for a post-mortem at the Hardoi Civil Hospital.

He said the police had not registered a complaint in this connection as the victim's mother was at the civil hospital.

He added that the police would first record her statement and then register a complaint.
