The US Open prize pool is slated to get richer following a record 11 percent hike which will allow the singles' winners to walk away with three million dollars as reward.

According to the Sport24, in an announcement made by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) on Wednesday, USTA Chairman Dave Haggerty said that the total US Open purse will now be 38.3 million dollars.

The total prize pool for the US singles, doubles and mixed doubles alone has seen an increase of 12.5 percent over last year and exceeds two of the other three grand slam tournaments.

While the Wimbledon had 41.98 million dollars in its prize pool this year, the Australian Open and the French Open had 33 million and 34.54 million dollars each in their purse.

With this decision, the winners of each round of the single matches will also see a double-digit percent increase in the prize money over last year.

The US Open purse has been increased by 64.6 percent in the last three years, the report added.
