The storm of attacks in Paris by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is certain to prompt a reassessment of the threat from ISIS militants and may lead to a more aggressive US strategy against the terror group.

According to The New York Times, Frances Fragos Townsend, the top White House counterterrorism adviser under President George W. Bush, asserted that ISIS is definitely a threat that goes beyond its territories and self-proclaimed caliphate.

US President Barack Obama may have to rethink the lines of alliances and the contours of the war he has been waging in Iraq and Syria.

ISIS had warned it would step up strikes against the countries that have joined the US-led coalition fighting the group in Iraq and Syria.

Earlier, ISIS had claimed responsibility of downing a Russian airliner after Moscow started conducting drone strikes in Syria.

French President Francois Hollande in a strong message swore to the country that he intends to take revenge on those who committed the 'barbaric' act.

At least 127 people were killed in a series terror attacks in Paris.
