The US has reportedly said that Russian military aircrafts have violated Ukraine's airspace on several occasions in the last 24 hours.
According to the BBC, the statement came as the G7 group of industrialised countries agreed on Saturday to "swiftly" impose fresh sanctions on Russia over Ukraine.
In a statement on Friday, Pentagon spokesman Col Steven Warren said Russian aircraft had entered Ukrainian airspace several times in the past 24 hours and called on Russia to take "immediate steps to de-escalate the situation".
A joint statement from the G7 said Russia had taken no concrete actions in support of the Geneva accord.
The statement added that additional sanctions will be imposed swiftly on Russia.
The statement further read that given the urgency of securing the opportunity for a successful and peaceful democratic vote next month in Ukraine's presidential elections, the West would act urgently to intensify targeted sanctions and measures to increase the costs of Russia's actions.
