The 45-year-old actor said in an interview that it's well known that the greatest defense against an intruder is the sound of a gun hammer being pulled back, Fox News reported.
The 'True Detective' star added that he supports people having a gun in public full stop, not just in your home, noting that people don't have the right to bear arms because of burglars, they have the right to bear arms to resist the supreme power of a corrupt and abusive government.
Vaughn, who thinks it's the same reason people have freedom of speech, added that there should be firearms in American schools to protect their students, noting that politicians too have guns in the schools their kids go to.
He added that banning guns is like banning forks in an attempt to stop making people fat and taking away guns, taking away drugs, the booze, it won't rid the world of criminality."
Vaughn said most mass shootings occur where people aren't allowed to defend themselves with firearms, adding that in schools it is illegal to have guns on campus, so again and again these guys go and shoot up these schools because they know there are no guns there. "They are monsters killing six-year-olds.
