Highlighting the BJP-led government's commitment to make Assam safe from illegal immigrants, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday said, "the target for completion of sealing of Indo-Bangladesh border is December this year."
He told that the riverine areas along the borders will be will be sealed with non-physical barriers, and the one on land will be secured with smart fencing to prevent illegal immigrants from crossing over.
He further said that his government has been cracking down corruption, apart from preventing the inflow of illegal immigrants in the state.
On that note, Sonowal's government on Wednesday completed two years in the state.
