Newly inducted Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu on Monday stated that he will work towards bringing a much needed transformational change in his ministry in the next three-years.
"The Parliament will be in session very soon, in the Parliament as well as when we present the Budget, will unveil our entire scheme of things as to what we want to do in the next few years time. And we will not wait for long, long time and in the next three year's time we would like to really bring in the transformational change that Railway is waiting for a long time," Prabhu said after taking charge as the Union Railways Minister today.
Warming up to the media persons, he said he considered the media as part of an extended family.
"We feel the members of the media are very important part of our extended family, you will carry the message of whatever good work we do. And we promise you that we will work together as partners and make sure that Railways becomes a very important institution in the lives of people, in the entire scheme of things of the nation," he said.
Describing Railways as an engine of growth, Prabhu said, "One day we will proudly say that Indian Railways is not only a pride of India, but probably one of the important institutions in the world. And to make that happen, it is a long journey."
He also announced that a portal for customer service would soon be launched by his ministry to facilitate interactions with the media and the common people.
"A portal for customer service, so anybody wants to pose a question to us, they could just log in and we will be able to answer that as quickly as possible," he said.
Former NDA minister Suresh Prabhu, who resigned from the Shiv Sena to join the BJP, was sworn in as a Union Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet on Sunday.
