World number one Serena Williams bounced back from a shaky start in the opening set to breeze past her Russian opponent Vera Zvonareva in straight sets to advance to the third round of the Australian Open in Melbourne.
Trailing 3-5 in the opening set, the 18th time grand slam champion fought back stoutly while saving three set points in the first set before defeating Zvonareva 7-5 6-0 to ease into the next round of the first grand slam of the year.
Moreover, Venus Williams strolled into the next round with a convincing 6-2 6-3 victory over compatriot Lauren Davis.
