Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah has already sounded the poll bugle for 2019 general election. He will be visiting five states as part of a Vistaar Yatra (Expansion Tour).

The aim of the Vistaar Yatra is to expand party's reach in those 120 Lok Sabha seats wherein the BJP lost in 2014 general elections.

Shah will start his two-day Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) tour from Saturday. The BJP is a coalition partner in J&K government led by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The BJP has three Members of Parliament (MPs) and 26 Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from J&K. The by poll for Anantnag Lok Sabha seat has been deferred by the Election Commission. The seat is vacated by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

Shah's state visit also assumes importance as the state has been witnessing unrest reminiscent of 2008 and 2010. He will be meeting intelligentsia during his visit.

After Jammu and Kashmir, Shah will be touring four states- Odhisa, Lakshadweep, Telangana, and Gujarat. His each state visit will be of 15 days. In Odhisa, Shah will be camping at Kalahandi district.

The BJP has created 19 departments to ensure that the party runs equally from the district level to the national level.

The party will also be listing its 11 crore members up to the booth level.
