Indian wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt on Tuesday joined the bandwagon of support for Rio-bound Narsingh Yadav, who has tested positive for a banned substance, saying that the matter must be investigated thoroughly.
Narsingh was tested positive for a banned anabolic steroid, two weeks before the Rio Olympics. He was later called for his 'B' sample test, which also turned out to be positive.
Dutt, who will represent India in the men's 65kg freestyle category in next month's Olympic Games, took to micro blogging website Twitter to throw his support behind Narsingh.
The 33-year-old grappler insisted that he felt extremely sad to see the state of wrestling, adding he is confident that Narsingh could not indulge in doping activities.
Meanwhile, two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar also expressed his disappointment over the ongoing debate.
"Very unfortunate to see wrestling go through this. I have given my life to it and will always support fellow wrestlers," Sushil tweeted.
Narsingh, who bagged the quota in the 74kg category with a bronze medal finish in last year's World Championships, will now appear before a NADA panel this week for the final hearing.
However, Narsingh alleged that a conspiracy has been hatched against him to ruin his wrestling career.
Interestingly, Narsingh was selected for the Rio Olympics in controversial circumstances as Sushil Kumar had demanded for trials to determine who should go to the games.
However, the embattled wrestler was favoured for the same after fighting a lengthy legal battle with Sushil.
