German car manufacturer BMW launched the facelifted X3 in India yesterday. Priced at INR 44.90 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base xDrive 20d expedition variant, the Bavarian SUV competes with the likes of Audi Q5, Freelander 2 and the recently updated Volvo XC60.

Updations Inside-Out:

The updated X3 adopts the brand's new design philosophy, though the overall silhouette and stance of the car remains unchanged. Following the foot marks of the elder sibling X5, the X3 boasts a more prominent front kidney-grille and bigger the twin-circular headlights. While the other exterior changes includes redesigned bumpers, new side view mirrors with integrated turn indicators, more-angular new headlight, refreshed tail-lights and new alloys, which makes the X3 look a bit more upmarket than before. The same story continues on the inside too, as the cabin quite resembles the X5, and its better, bigger, spacious and more plush.

Variants and Features :

BMW offers the updated X3 in two variants- Expedition and xLine. The xLine variant comes with all the features available in the base Expedition trim, additionally it also comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof, leather, wood garnishing, bigger 18 inch' alloys in comparison to the base model's 17' inchers and a more-equipped music system.

Engine:

Though BMW has placed the same 2.0-litre diesel engine under the hood of 2014 X3, but the TwinPower oil burner now churns out 190bhp, marginal above the predecessor's 184 bhp. The unit comes coupled to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox, which sends power to all four wheels with the help of the xDrive system. The power increment has decreased the car's 0 to 100 km/h acceleration to 8.1 seconds, with a top speed of 210 km/h. Additionally, the updated BMW X3 offers three different driving modes to choose from - 'Eco Pro', 'Comfort' and 'Sport' for the base trim, whereas the xLine also gets an extra 'Sport+' mode and dynamic damping control.

The new BMW X3 is available in Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Deep Sea Blue, Glacier Silver, Sparkling Brown, Space Grey, Mineral Silver and Melbourne Red. While the interiors leather upholstery is offered in Black, Beige, Oyster, Saddle Brown and Mocha colour combinations.
