Four launches in One Day. Auto Expo’s back? Certainly not. It's the onset of festive season which will kick-start from Navratri and will continue right up till Diwali. To cash on the opportunity, automakers are ready to introduce their new products. Among the first ones are the Renault Duster AWD, Volkswagen Vento facelift and Chevrolet Sail and Sail U-VA. All the four vehicles will be launched tomorrow on 24th September, 2014.
Renault Duster AWD
Renault’s highest selling product in India is about to get an all wheel drive system. Yes, we are talking about the 4x4 Renault Duster which will be launched tomorrow on 24th September. The all wheel drive is powered by the same 1.5 K9K dCi diesel engine which generates a power of 108.5bhp and peak torque of 248Nm. This 4x4 model will only be made available with 110PS model against the likes of Mahindra Scorpio 4x4 and Tata Safari Storme 4x4. Renault Duster AWD features shift-on-fly four-wheel-drive system which the company calls as 'iDrive technology'. The AWD system sports three modes- 2WD, Auto and 4WD Lock. Since the AWD model will be used on harsh terrains, the ground clearance has been increased by 5mm and now it stands at 210mm. AWD Duster also embraces cruise control and delivers a class leading fuel efficiency of 19.72km/l.
Volkswagen Vento Facelift
The German auto giant Volkswagen will introduce the updated Vento with a new 1.5 liter TDI turbo diesel engine on 24th September. This diesel engine is coupled to VW's 7-speed dual-shift DSG automatic gearbox. Recently, the automaker launched the new Polo with 1.5-litre engine and it seems like an intelligent move from the company to ditch the less efficient 1.6-litre mill. Vento facelift will share similar cosmetic updates with Polo. The new dual-bezel headlamps, updated grille along with a tweaked bumper are some of the expected changes whereas interiors of the saloon will feature the new flat bottom multi-function steering wheel and updated center console.
Chevrolet Sail and Sail U-VA
Chevrolet India is also ready with the facelift versions of its Sail model lineup. The company will introduce both the Sail and Sail U-VA facelifts tomorrow. The Sail Sedan lock horns with compact sedans like Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze and latest addition to Zest from Tata Motors, while Sail U-VA competes with Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo. Speaking about the changes, both the cars are getting a new 2-din audio system which feature Beat like blue-back-lit and Bluetooth connectivity. Mechanically both the cars are expected to remain same and will keep on housing the 1.2 liter petrol and 1.3 liter diesel SMARTECH engines.
