As reported earlier, Mahindra Racing is the only Indian team amongst a total of 10 teams which compete in the FIA Formula E Championship. In October, Nick Heidfeld obtained the team's first podium, finishing third in his M2Electro Formula E car. Mahindra’s success in the event has now reached a new milestone as Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra has been included in the sustainability committee of the Formula E racing series. This committee consist of various global corporations working together to address prominent environmental issues.

Alongside Mr. Mahindra will be Leonardo DiCaprio and various other CEOs of the series. This committee focuses on upliftment and development of technologies in urban mobility, and changing perceptions towards the use of electric vehicles, Mahindra Racing said in a statement. Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group, said, “I am honoured to join the Formula E Sustainability Committee which is committed to increasing the appeal of electric vehicles, particularly in urban centres. This aligns perfectly with the Mahindra Group’s vision of co-creating the Future of Mobility, while driving positive change in the global communities in which we operate.” Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E, said: “Mr Mahindra is a valued addition to the Formula E Sustainability Committee. His experience and knowledge will not only be invaluable to the growth of sustainable transportation technologies, but also the collaboration of our global voices to address and find solutions to important environmental issues in our journey towards a more sustainable future.”
