German luxury carmaker BMW has officially unveiled its 2-Series Active Tourer ahead of its global debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show 2014. It will directly compete against the Mercedes-Benz B-Class. It is the company's first front-wheel drive five-seat MPV.

BMW 2-Series Active Tourer measures 4342mm in length, 1800mm in width and 1555mm in height, making it 17mm longer, 55mm wider and 135mm taller than the 1-Series hatchback. The vehicle has a long wheelbase of 2,670mm and raised roofline, which ultimately turns into a roomy cabin. The front fascia of the 2-Series Active Tourer gets the slightly forward-slanting BMW kidney grille which is surrounded by the distinctive twin circular headlights. The rear end sports short overhang, Hofmeister kink in the rear side windows and the L-shaped rear lights. The side profile of the Active tourer feature an eye-catching swage line, which give added impact to the wheel arches. Moving inside, the controls for the radio, air conditioning and air vents are angled towards the driver in another unmistakable BMW design trait.

The BMW 2-Series Active Tourer offers an impressive 468-litres of boot space, which can be extended up to 1,510-litres. It features a sliding rear seat, allowing either kneeroom or luggage space to be increased as required.

It takes around 9 seconds to reach 100kmph from standstill and, the vehicle can attain a top speed of 200kmph. The performance oriented 225i is powered by the 2-litre petrol engine producing 231bhp and 350Nm of top torque. It accelerates to 100kmph from zero in 6.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 235kmph.
