The German automaker BMW might be showcasing its much awaited BMW 1-series compact sedan at the upcoming 2016 Indian Auto Expo. BMW recently revealed the concept of the upcoming sedan at the 2015 Guanghzou Motor Show, which was held in China. It is expected that a production-ready model will be showcased at the Indian Auto Expo, which will be held from 5th to 9th of Feburary in the Greater Noida region. The 1-series sedan will rival the likes of Mercedes CLA and Audi A3. There are also speculations surrounding the possibility that BMW might start the sales of this particular sedan in 2017. The car has been spied on multiple times, making rounds on road-test and there is a possibility that the car will be manufactured out of the company’s Chennai plant.
BMW has confirmed that the upcoming car will don the “BMW 1-Series sedan” moniker and if further speculations are to be believed, this might just be the company’s first ever FWD car, as it will find its foundations in the company’s UKL platform.
On the outside, the compact sedan will retain BMW’s traditional design philosophy and the interiors will incorporate creature comforts, which might include touch-sensitive controls, 8.8-inch freestanding infotainment system display, Nappa leather seats, heads-up display, ambient lighting and a panoramic glass roof.
As far as powerplants are concerned, BMW 1-Series sedan might feature 3 and 4-cylinder engine option, however no official statement has been made by the company, disclosing the any specifications of the units which will be offered in India.
