Nissan, the Japanese carmaker revived its low cost car brand Datsun after 32 years to further strengthen its presence in the developing nations. Earlier this year, the company unveiled its first product Datsun Go hatchback, which will come to India by the early next year. The vehicle has already been put on test, confirming that it is ready for launch. It has been spotted a couple of times during its test runs near Chennai.

We reported earlier that Datsun will launch several new products in the near future including a compact hatch, MPV, a mini SUV and notchback. Recently concluded 2013 Indonesian Auto Show witnessed the introduction of Datsun Go+ MPV, which is expected to be showcased at the next year's Indian Auto Expo.

Datsun Go hatchback will be the first vehicle to come to India, and it is based on Nissan Micra platform. To keep its costs down, the vehicle will share most of its components with Micra. The hatchback is slightly longer than the Nissan's hatch and is spacious on the insides as well. Under the hood, the Go will be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol motor that also powers the Micra, however the engine will be tuned to offer more fuel efficiency. The power is transmitted to front wheels via five speed manual transmission.

The new Datsun Go is expected to be priced around Rs. 3 to 4 lakh, and will compete against the likes of Maruti Alto K10, Hyundai Eon, Chevy Spark and others.
