Renault India is one of the latest entrants in the Indian market, despite the fact, the company has grown tremendously and acquired 2.5 percent share of the Indian four wheeler space in a short span of two years. Duster is a crucial product for the company as it is being one of the reasons for this fast growth. Today, in an interview with us, Mr. Sumit Sawhney, MD and CEO, Renault India talked about their upcoming products and plans for Duster. He told us that Renault is planning to launch Duster 4X4 by 2014 end and the company is also planning to launch two new cars in 2015.
When asked about the updates on the Duster, Mr. Sawhney said that they are regularly launching updated vehicles and have already launched the updated Koleos and Fluence. He further hinted that after launching the Adventure Edition the company can roll out updated Duster soon to keep the excitement on for the product. On the question of two new cars, he said that the company has already announced to launch the new small car in India in sub Rs. 4 lakh segment. When we queried about the car, he revealed that it will be a completely new global compact car, which is in developmental phase right now. When asked about another car, he told us that other car will be a strong entry in a completely new segment. However, he denied revealing the product and segment they are looking at and said that the company will reveal it on the right time. However, as we already reported, Renault is planning to launch Lodgy MPV in India.
