Both the Multi Purpose Vehicles come with three petrol variants; while Mobilio offers 4 versions in diesel, Ertiga offers 3. The top variants of both the vehicle are almost similarly loaded but the major difference lies in the base. The base Ertiga offers no power windows, tachometer, central locking while the Mobilio's comes standard with power windows, tachometer, central locking, etc. Having said that, Ertiga offers richer interiors a better specked audio system with Bluetooth and a premium looking instrumentation cluster compared to the Mobilio, certainly Mobilio only losses on the interior front. The roof mounted AC starts from the second variant in both the vehicles. On the safety front both the MPVs come with ABS as standard in the diesel variants. Mobilio petrol gets ABS only in the top-end 'V' trim while the Ertiga offers ABS as optional in the mid 'VXI' petrol variant too. Mobilio also offers segment first diamond cut alloys, LED positioning lights, sport kits and projector headlamps in the RS diesel variant!
Speaking of the engine, Mobilio's both the motors (petrol and diesel) are powerful and lead the fuel economy charts compared to the Ertiga. The 1.5L i-VTEC churns out 117bhp of max power and 145Nm of peak torque compared to 93.5bhp and 130Nm of Ertiga's 1.4L K14 petrol. The petrol powered Mobilio returns class leading 17.3km/l while the Ertiga is tagged at 16.02km/l. The 1.5L diesel in the Mobilio is also punchier with 98bhp and 200Nm of torque compared to Ertiga's 1.3L churning 88.8bhp (89bhp) and 200Nm of torque. The diesel Mobilio returns 24.2 km/l of mileage while Ertiga returns 20.77km/l. Both the vehicles are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
