After the recent features update, Hyundai’s premium hatchback, the Elite i20 has received another installment of updates. The fully-loaded Asta (O) models get and lose few features. The i20 features are being revised for the second time this year, even though the premium hatchback is selling in admirable numbers. According to a report by Team-bhp, the Hyundai Elite i20 Asta(O) variants will get a shorter antenna, which it will share with the Hyundai i20 Active. The updated models will also flaunt a sports glossy black C-Pillar, which will replace the matte finish black pillars. Hyundai is also getting rid of the auto dimming rear view mirrors from the i20 Asta (O) models.
With the escalating competition, courtesy of Honda Jazz and Maruti Baleno, this might be Hyundai’s move aimed at refreshing the appeal of its premium hatchback. Mechanically, the car will remain unchanged and will continue incorporating the 1.2-litre Kappa 2 engine in its petrol variants, which produce 83PS of power output and 115Nm of peak torque and the 1.4-litre U2 CRDI mill in the diesel variants that delivers 90PS of power and 220 Nm of torque. The petrol powerplants com mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and the diesel variants feature a 6-speed MT and cost Rs. 7.2 lacs and Rs. 8.3 lacs (Ex-showroom, New Delhi), respectively. However, Hyundai has announced that the prices of its range will be hiked from 1st of January, next year.
