Ford’s much hyped Everest (Endeavour in India) is launched in Thailand at the Bangkok Motor Show 2015. The India bound SUV is priced quite handsomely there, the base variant 2.2 Titanium AT is priced at 1,269,000 Bahts-(Rs. 24.24 lacs), the mid 3.2 AT 4x4 is priced at 1,459,000 (Rs. 27.87 lacs) and the top 3.2 Titanium Plus AT 4x4 is kept at 1,599,000 Bahts (Rs. 30.55 lacs). But since we do not have a dedicated Ford Endeavour facility out here expect these prices to be a bit more, provided the variants get similar features.
The All-New Endeavour will go head-to-head against Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero and this next generation of once popular SUV will emerge strong again. It gets a refreshed design, more muscular than before, a stubby front that carries the Ford’s all new signature grill, projector headlamps, a new skid plate at bottom of the front and rear bumper that extend to foglamps at the front and reflectors at the rear. While the side profile is marked by the presence of prominent wheel arches and compact angular windscreen region gives it a dashing appearance.
Mechanically, the diesel Everest gets two engine options namely a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder unit along with a 5-cylinder 3.2-liter TDCI power plant. The former generates a power and torque of 158.2 Bhp and 385 Nm, respectively. While, the latter produces a humongous 197.1 Bhp of max power and 470 Nm of torque. Speaking of the transmission, the SUV features six-speed automatic with manual mode, though, the India spec bruiser is expected to get a six-speed manual as well. Moreover, it features shift-on-fly four wheel drive and comes with Terrain Management System sporting - Normal, Snow/Gravel/Grass, Sand and Rock. The vehicle intelligently manages engine dynamics to ensure best possible traction. In terms of safety it offers seven airbags along with several active and passive safety features.
