In the month of December'13, Maruti Suzuki India marked a positive growth of 5.5 % in domestic market in comparison to the total sales happened during the same month in 2012. This is a clear sign of improving market conditions in India, but there's also no doubt with the popularity of the brand amongst Indian buyers, which has worked well for the company. Moreover, the various discounts and exchange bonus schemes, especially those offered in the month of December' 13, too helped to grow over the sales numbers. Another major factor is also the price rise declared by almost every car maker in India from January'14, which must have pushed more buyers to purchase the vehicle early.
In the small car segment, Maruti's M800, Alto, A-Star and Wagon R recorded sales of 38286 units in 2013 as against the 32797 units marked in December'2012. This has made a commendable increase of 16.7% in this particular category of cars. While on the other hand, the compact car segment comprising of Swift, Estilo and Ritz registered a de-growth of 14.7% from 22482 units in Dec'12 to 19171 in the month of Dec'13.
Maruti Swift Dzire, particularly, is one such model of Maruti which has always been churning good sales figures for the firm. It has shown a sharp increase of 18%, contributing maximum to the overall sales of the company. In Dec'13, Maurit sold 15427 units of Dzire as against 13076 units sold in the same month in 2012.
With this, the Maruti's domestic sales pumped up to 5.5% that went on from 82073 units (Dec'12) to 86613 units (Dec'13). But the total sales (domestic + export) of the company witnessed a fall by 4.4%.
