Maruti Suzuki will be launching the much anticipated Vitara Brezza today. The much talked about sub-4 metre offering is the carmaker’s first attempt in the competitive compact SUV segment and primarily competes against the likes of Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300.
Under the guidance of CV Raman, MSI Executive Director - Research and Development, the Brezza has been designed and developed from scratch in India. And according to MSIL, that has helped them to achieve a whopping 98 percent of localization level with this newest Maruti Suzuki in town.
Unlike the last two offerings – Baleno and S-Cross, the Vitara Brezza will be sold through the regular Maruti Suzuki dealerships. But that doesn’t mean that Brezza will miss the long list of features that the cars sold through Nexa premium dealerships gets. The compact SUV comes equipped with ABS and airbags as standard across all variants and automatic projector headlamps daytime running lights, and contrast-coloured roof and ORVMs in the top-spec model. Also, the touchscreen infotainment system that features Apple CarPlay is also on offer in the Brezza with reverse camera and parking sensors.
The Brezza is only available with the 90PS 1.3-litre four-cylinder DDiS 200 diesel engine that already powers the Ciaz and S-Cross. Choice for transmission is also limited to just a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the speculated AMT gearbox is a still a future thing.
