In a tussle to remain the number one in the country, Audi India is working aggressively and aiming to improve its portfolio for Indian buyers. It is expected that the 2013 Audi RS5 is soon going to hit the Indian shores, and the fact becomes more reasonable as the firm has teased the 2013 RS5 on its Facebook page. The new RS5 is a sports variant based on the A5, which was developed by the in-house tuning section of Audi. The vehicle was first unveiled at the last year's Geneva Motor Show. It will come to replace the current RS5 model, which was launched back in 2011.

Despite being based on the A5 platform, the 2013 RS5 is wider and lower than the standard A5. Under the hood, the same naturally aspirated, 4.2-litre V8 all-aluminum, directly injection engine, that also does duty in the current model. The engine is capable of developing 449.8bhp and 430Nm of top torque. The powertrain transmits all the power to the Quattro all-wheel drive system via a seven speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission. It accelerated to 100kmph from the stand still in mere 4.6 seconds and attains a top speed of 280kmph. The same Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system also runs the current model.

To make it more agile and responsive, the new RS5 comes with a redesigned dampers and springs on the front suspension. The low ride stance for the vehicle reduces the body-roll on high speeds and on turns. It also gets a new electric power steering (EPS) setup, which comes as the replacement for the engine-driven hydraulic assist.

The teased image didn't give much knowledge of the upgrades and new features, but we expect it to get the distinct characteristics, more of a sporty one. It is expected that new RS5 has a retractable rear spoiler, and as the picture suggests a trapezoidal grille with identical to the lower air-intakes. The current Audi RS5 model is available at a cost of Rs. 85.96 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and it is expected that the new RS5 will be priced higher than the current model. The optional package will also be made available, which will further increase the price of the vehicle by a couple of lakhs.
