In an ambition to improve its footprints in the global automotive markets, Tata Motors is planning to develop new vehicles keeping global markets in mind. Like Ford, Renault and other globally renowned automakers, the homegrown auto major is also aiming to produce products that suit global conditions. We have already seen EcoSport and Duster doing well for their respective carmakers, and these two cars are developed not just for India but global market as well.

After establishing themselves in the South African market, the company is now eyeing the South American continent. The global approach of developing vehicles that suit global markets will help the company to explore this new market, and will also reduce the risk of depending only on its home market.

Speaking to PTI, Tata Motors Managing Director Karl Slym said, "We started the look into international markets a year ago. However, what happened this year in India is just the endorsement of the fact that you cannot be certain with all your eggs in one market because India has collapsed". Talking about future plans, Slym added, "We have our product portfolio confirmed till 2020. Now, when we are designing our portfolio, we are designing them for the global markets."

The company has already set up a new strategy team to look into the international business. This will help to understand what Tata Motors need to develop, which is internationally capable as well. The company has already started testing products in several global markets where it sees the potential. Recently, Tata Motors entered Indonesia, and already launched few products in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Australia.
