The Tiago seems to have brought life back to Tata Motors in the passenger car segment. The hatch has crossed the magnificent figure of 22000 bookings just within two months of its launch and along with it, the 10000th Tiago was also rolled out from the Sanand facility, Gujarat. As per the company, the petrol variants contribute around 85 per cent of the total sales.
After the Nano, the Tiago is the second Tata car to achieve the feet of 10,000 sales within the first two months of its launch. A complete departure from the previous Tata products, the Tiago is a fresh offering that boasts plenty of creature comforts, and some are segment firsts! To name a few -- an 8-speaker sound system developed by Harman, Multi-drive modes and Smart phone based TBT navigation.
Launched in April this year, the new Tata car is powered by a 1.05-litre 3-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine and a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder VCTi Revotron petrol mill. The former pumps out 70PS of power and 140Nm of torque while the latter belts out 85PS of max power and 114Nm of torque.
It’s a moment of utter delight for the company as its hard work has finally paid off. Whether it’s the design, cabin refinement, plastic quality, safety or the ride quality, the Tata Tiago ticks all the right boxes.
The future is bright for Tata Motors and with Tata Hexa MPV and the sedan version of the Tiago coming soon, the company might enjoy the success of the good old days.
