Toyota Kirloskar Motor is all set to launch the all-new eleventh generation Corolla Altis tomorrow on May 27, 2014. With the launch of Corolla Altis, the manufacturer looks forward to gain good profit from the ever increasing D segment car demands. The saloon was earlier showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.
The company is betting high on India auto-sector as it recently launched Etios Cross and now with the launch of Corolla Altis, the company aims to spice things up in the saloon segment. With the launch of Corolla Altis, the auto-maker is looking forward to beat the sales of Renault Fluence and Skoda Octavia (Read the full comparision here). Globally, Corolla Altis is the most retailed vehicle with more than 40 millions units sold over a period of 50 years. The car is known for its low cost maintenance, durability and rear seat comfort.
This eleventh generation model, looks quite different from its predecessor. The car now gets a sharp and sporty front profile, sleek crease lines and an impressive back profile which features LED taillamp cluster. Inside the cabin, the Corolla Altis gets entirely new interior design in dual color tone. The dashboard gets beige and black metal finish with the use of top notch materials. Talking about the features, the car gets touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, twin pod instrument cluster with blue backlight, steering mounted controls, automatic headlamps, automatic wipers, reverse camera with sensor, engine start/stop button, 8-way power driver seat, rear power sockets and rear reclining seats. On the safety front, the Japanese manufacturer has paid special attention as the car comes equipped with dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, clutch start system, immobilizer, seat belts with pre-tensioner and many more.
Mechanically, the car remains unchanged and will keep on housing its tried and tested 1.8-litre petrol engine and 1.4-litre diesel powertrain. The petrol engine churns a maximum power output of 138bhp at 6400 rpm and a peak torque of 173Nm at 4000 rpm. The engine comes mated to 6-speed manual or a 7-speed CVT automatic transmission. The car is also available in diesel fuel trim with 1.4-litre D-4D diesel engine. The diesel model generates a power of 87bhp at 3800 rpm and peak torque of 205Nm at 1800-2800 rpm. The diesel engine is coupled to 6-speed manual transmission and there is no option for automatic gearbox. Stay tuned to CarDekho for more updates on its price and variants.
