Aptech rose 3.30% to Rs 73.50 at 11:49 IST on BSE after consolidated net profit jumped 83.90% to Rs 8.68 crore on 16.76% increase in net sales to Rs 49.60 crore in Q2 September 2013 over Q1 June 2013.
The company announced the result after market hours on Thursday, 31 October 2013.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 32.59 points, or 0.15%, to 21,197.11.
On BSE, 97,000 shares were traded in the counter compared with average volume of 1.12 lakh shares in the past one quarter.
The stock hit a high of Rs 74.90 and a low of Rs 72.80 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 75.70 on 12 December 2012. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 40.15 on 22 March 2013.
The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 31 October 2013, rising 14.67% compared with the Sensex's 9.21% rise. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 13.84% as against Sensex's 9.40% rise.
The small-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 48.79 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.
On a consolidated basis, net profit jumped 45.6% to Rs 8.68 crore on 9.7% increase in net sales to Rs 49.60 crore in Q2 September 2013 over Q2 September 2012.
Aptech said as per the buyback plan approved by shareholders, the company bought back and extinguished 38.01 lakh equity shares of value Rs 23.53 crore as on 30 September 2013.
The company's buyback offer opened on 24 July 2013. The company has set aside Rs 64.65 crore as the maximum amount for the buyback. The maximum buyback price is set at Rs 82 per share. The company proposes to buyback a minimum of 19.71 lakh equity shares and a maximum of 78.84 lakh equity shares.
