Basic materials stocks edge lower

Basic materials stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index decreasing 8.7 points or 0.34% at 2545.72 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Seya Industries Ltd (down 9.63%), Rushil Decor Ltd (down 4.97%),Uniply Industries Ltd (down 4.66%),Vikas Ecotech Ltd (down 3.79%),National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 3.6%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (down 3.59%), Shree Cement Ltd (down 2.97%), Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd (down 2.63%), Vedanta Ltd (down 2.51%), and Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd (down 2.17%).

On the other hand, NOCIL Ltd (up 6.24%), International Paper APPM Ltd (up 4.29%), and Jai Corp Ltd (up 4.22%) turned up.

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 328.78 or 0.85% at 38927.77.

The Nifty 50 index was up 71.9 points or 0.63% at 11535.9.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 69.6 points or 0.54% at 12869.52.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 40.09 points or 0.92% at 4399.69.

On BSE,1185 shares were trading in green, 1087 were trading in red and 192 were unchanged.
