Bharti Airtel rose 1.4% to Rs 419.30 at 14:49 IST on BSE after the company said that it has become the third largest mobile operator in the world in terms of subscribers.
The announcement was made during market hours today, 30 June 2015.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 62.90 points, or 0.23%, to 27,708.05
On BSE, so far 95,896 shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 3.28 lakh shares in the past one quarter.
The stock hit a high of Rs 421.90 and a low of Rs 414.25 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 437.20 on 19 June 2015. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 326.75 on 14 July 2014.
The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 29 June 2015, falling 2.77% compared with 0.66% fall in the Sensex. The scrip, however, outperformed the market in past one quarter, gaining 9.91% as against Sensex's 0.68% gain.
The large-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 1998.70 crore. Face value per share is Rs 5.
As per the latest data published by World Cellular Information Service (WCIS), Airtel with over 303 million mobile subscribers across its operations has moved up one position in the global rankings, Bharti Airtel said.
Commenting on the development, Bharti Airtel's Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said that this is a major landmark in the journey of Airtel and underlines the strength of its business model and its brand that is loved by customers across 20 countries.
Bharti Airtel's consolidated net profit rose 30.5% to Rs 1255.30 crore on 3.6% growth in net sales to Rs 23015.50 crore in Q4 March 2015 over Q4 March 2014.
