Consumer Protection Act will be amended -Ram Vilas Paswan

Shri Ram Vilas Paswan said that the Government has proposed an authority to protect consumers against unfair trade practices which would also keep a close watch on various consumer services also. Expressing concern over pendency in various consumer redessal foura, he said, that there has been a growing feeling that consumers do not get quick redressal and framework available is lagging behind, hence amendments have to be made in the Act. A number of provisions from online filing of complaints, speedy disposal of consumer disputes and concept of mediation process will be introduced with the amendment in the existing Act, he asserted.
