Electricity generation and petroleum refinery product output surges in April 2016
The output of Eight Core Infrastructure Industries carrying 38% of the weight in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) increased at 18-months high pace of 8.5% in April 2016Coal production declined 0.9% in April, 2016 over April 2015, while crude oil production also dipped 2.3% in April 2016 over April 2015. Further, the natural gas production plunged 6.8% in April 2016.
However, the petroleum refinery production jumped 17.9% in April 2016 over April 2015. The fertilizer production galloped 7.8%, while steel production also moved up 6.1% in April 2016.
The cement production increased 4.4%, while electricity generation jumped 14.7% in April 2016 over April 2015.
