Outflow of Rs 344.80 crore on 3 April 2013

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 344.80 crore on Wednesday, 3 April 2013, higher than outflow of Rs 29.80 crore on Tuesday, 2 April 2013.

The net outflow of Rs 344.80 crore on Wednesday, 3 April 2013, was a result of gross purchases Rs 2365.90 crore and gross sales Rs 2710.70 crore. There was a net outflow of Rs 351.60 crore from the secondary equity markets on Wednesday, 3 April 2013, which was a result of gross purchases Rs 2355.80 crore and gross sales Rs 2707.40 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had shed 239.31 points or 1.26% to settle at 18,801.64 on that day, its lowest closing level since 26 March 2013.

There was a net inflow of Rs 6.80 crore into the category 'primary market others' on Wednesday, 3 April 2013, which was a result of gross purchases Rs 10.10 crore and gross sales Rs 3.30 crore.

FIIs have bought shares worth Rs 887.40 crore in April 2013 so far (till 3 April 2013). FIIs had purchased shares worth Rs 9124.30 crore in March 2013.

FIIs have purchased shares worth net Rs 56509.80 crore in 2013 so far (till 3 April 2013). FIIs bought shares worth net Rs 128359.80 crore in calendar 2012.

There are a total of 1,758 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India.
