Financials shares fall

Financials stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Finance index falling 265.59 points or 5.9% at 4239.45 at 13:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Finance index, Shriram Transport Finance Company Ltd (down 14.13%), Bajaj Finance Ltd (down 10.77%),Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd (down 9.78%),Manappuram Finance Ltd (down 9.37%),Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (down 9.25%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Shriram City Union Finance Ltd (down 8.65%), Ujjivan Financial Services Ltd (down 8.42%), Bandhan Bank Ltd (down 8.25%), Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company Ltd (down 8.18%), and Federal Bank Ltd (down 7.54%).

On the other hand, BF Investment Ltd (up 9.77%), AAVAS Financiers Ltd (up 7.64%), and Tourism Finance Corporation of India Ltd (up 7.21%) moved up.

At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 1087.97 or 3.65% at 28727.62.

The Nifty 50 index was down 259.75 points or 3% at 8400.5.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 161.42 points or 1.7% at 9335.82.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 79.26 points or 2.32% at 3340.2.

On BSE,774 shares were trading in green, 1334 were trading in red and 168 were unchanged.
