FMCG stocks edge lower

FMCG stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE FMCG Sector index decreasing 100.2 points or 0.87% at 11413.21 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE FMCG Sector index, Sanwaria Consumer Ltd (down 3.28%), Mcleod Russel India Ltd (down 2.58%),L T Foods Ltd (down 2.19%),Agro Tech Foods Ltd (down 1.66%),Eveready Industries India Ltd (down 1.65%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Som Distilleries & Breweries Ltd (down 1.64%), GlaxoSmithkline Consumer Healthcare Ltd (down 1.58%), Emami Ltd (down 1.36%), Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd (down 1.33%), and Hindustan Unilever Ltd (down 1.29%).

On the other hand, Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd (up 5.06%), Apex Frozen Foods Ltd (up 4.91%), and Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd (up 4.05%) turned up.

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 83.75 or 0.2% at 41093.46.

The Nifty 50 index was up 12.7 points or 0.11% at 12099.4.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 20.13 points or 0.15% at 13352.79.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 1.03 points or 0.02% at 4708.05.

On BSE,1084 shares were trading in green, 1198 were trading in red and 177 were unchanged.
