Net outflow of Rs 629.16 crore on 8 December 2017
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 629.16 crore into the secondary equity markets on 8 December 2017, compared with net outflow of Rs 1011.39 crore on 7 December 2017. On 8 December 2017, the Sensex rose 301.09 points or 0.91% to settle at 33,250.30, its highest closing level since 29 November 2017.
The net outflow of Rs 629.16 crore on 8 December 2017 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 6167.15 crore and gross sales of Rs 6796.31 crore.
There was a net inflow of Rs 672.79 crore into the 'primary market & others' category on 8 December 2017, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 679.17 crore and gross sales of Rs 6.38 crore.
FPIs have sold stocks worth a net Rs 4892.21 crore into the secondary equity markets in December 2017 so far (till 8 December 2017). They had purchased stocks worth a net Rs 9703.50 crore from the secondary equity markets in November 2017.
FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 8221.19 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2017 so far (till 8 December 2017). They had purchased shares worth a net Rs 12094.42 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016.
FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 846.95 crore from the primary market & others' category in December 2017 so far (till 8 December 2017). They had purchased stocks worth a net Rs 10024.15 crore from the primary market & others' category in November 2017.
FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 44869.70 crore from the 'primary markets & others' category in calendar year 2017 so far (till 8 December 2017). The net inflow from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' had totaled Rs 8471.76 crore in calendar year 2016.
