Net purchases of Rs 240.04 crore on 21 September 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 240.04 crore from the secondary equity markets on 21 September 2016, lower than their purchases of Rs 731.24 crore during the preceding trading session on 20 September 2016. The net inflow of Rs 240.04 crore on 21 September 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4270 crore and gross sales of Rs 4029.96 crore. On that day, the Sensex fell 15.78 points or 0.06% to settle at 28,507.42, its lowest closing level since 15 September 2016. FPIs were net buyers from the secondary equity markets for the fifth straight day.

The net inflow of Rs 268.01 crore into the category 'primary markets & others' on 21 September 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 268.01 crore and zero sales.

FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 3936.23 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 21 September 2016). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 8906.89 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 43147.62 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 21 September 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

There has been a net inflow of Rs 1305.23 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in this month so far (till 21 September 2016). There was a net inflow of Rs 164.43 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' last month. The net inflow from FPIs into category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 2943.57 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 21 September 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
