Net outflow of Rs 113.81 crore on 6 January 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 113.81 crore during the previous trading session on 6 January 2016, lower than net outflow of Rs 261.91 crore on 5 January 2016.

The net outflow of Rs 113.81 crore into the secondary equity markets on 6 January 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4453.98 crore and gross sales of Rs 4567.79 crore. On that day, the Sensex fell 174.01 points or 0.68% to settle at 25,406.33, its lowest closing level since 15 December 2015.

There was a net inflow of Rs 0.12 crore into the category 'primary markets & others' on 6 January 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.12 crore and gross sales of Rs nil crore.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 497.25 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 6 January 2016). FPIs sold stocks worth a net Rs 2588.54 crore into the secondary equity markets in December 2015.

The outflow of FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 45.78 crore in calender year 2016 so far (till 6 January 2016). The inflow of FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' stood at Rs 22167.82 crore in the calendar year 2015.
