FPIs step up buying

Net inflow of Rs 366.32 crore on 4 January 2018

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 366.32 crore from the secondary equity markets yesterday, 4 January 2018, compared with net inflow of Rs 113.16 crore on 3 January 2018. On 4 January 2018, the Sensex had risen 176.26 points or 0.52% to settle at 33,969.64, its highest closing level since 29 December 2017.

The net inflow of Rs 366.32 crore into the secondary equity markets on 4 January 2018 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4643.74 crore and gross sales of Rs 4277.42 crore.

There was a net outflow of Rs 2.14 crore from the 'primary market & others' category on 4 January 2018, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 34.09 crore and gross sales of Rs 36.23 crore.

FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 2064.71 crore from the secondary equity markets in January 2018 so far (till 4 January 2018). They had sold stocks worth a net Rs 3345.02 crore into the secondary equity markets in December 2017.

FPIs have sold stocks worth a net Rs 446.44 crore into the primary market & others' category in January 2018 so far (till 4 January 2018). They had sold stocks worth a net Rs 2537.66 crore into the primary market & others' category in December 2017.
