Nifty May futures trade at premium
The Nifty May 2020 futures were at 9,086, a premium of 19.45 points compared with the spot closing at 9,066.55.Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was at Rs 12.20 lakh crore compared with Rs 10.85 lakh crore in the previous session.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index gained 187.45 or 2.11% and closed at 9,066.55.
The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, slumped 9.79% to 35.59.
On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 28 May 2020 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 24.46 lakh at the 10,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 25.74 lakh contracts was seen at 9,000 strike price.
Reliance Industries (RIL), Bajaj Finance and Bharti Airtel were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. RIL May 2020 futures were at 1,437.10, compared with spot closing price of 1437.30. Bajaj Finance May 2020 futures were at 2,064 compared with spot closing price of 2058. Bharti Airtel May 2020 futures were at 593.80, compared with spot closing price of 595.05.
The F&O contracts for May will expire on 28 May 2020.
