Trading of Nifty 50 index futures on the Singapore stock exchange indicates that the Nifty could fall 56 points at the opening bell.
Overseas, most Asian stocks were trading lower on Thursday as the rapid global spread of the coronavirus left investors on edge.
In US, stocks finished mostly lower on Wednesday, with the Dow and S&P 500 index falling for a fifth straight day, as investors digested reports on the spread of China's coronavirus to Europe and the Americas.
Back home, domestic shares declined for the fourth straight session on Wednesday amid weak global cues. The spread of the coronavirus has rattled investors across the globe who fear new outbreaks will push down global demand. The S&P BSE Sensex, fell 392.24 points or 0.97% at 39,888.96. The Nifty 50 index declined 119.40 points or 1.01% at 11,678.50.
The trading activity on that day showed that the foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 3336.60 crore yesterday, 26 February 2020, as per provisional data released by the stock exchanges. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 2785.67 crore, yesterday, 26 February 2020, as per provisional data.
