NHPC slips after large bulk deal

NHPC fell 0.54% to Rs 18.50 at 14:21 IST on BSE after a large bulk deal was executed on the counter on BSE today, 16 January 2014.

A bulk deal of 67.72 lakh shares was struck on the NHPC counter at Rs 18.55 per share at 09:22 IST on BSE today, 16 December 2014. The bulk deal saw 0.06% of NHPC's equity changing hands.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 12.89 points or 0.06% at 21,276.60

The large bulk deal boosted volume on the stock. On BSE, so far 70.83 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 6.56 lakh shares in the past two weeks.

The stock hit a high of Rs 18.75 and a low of Rs 18.35 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 29.40 on 20 February 2013. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 14.80 on 7 August 2013.

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 11 December 2013, rising 3.05% compared with the Sensex's 3.32% rise. The scrip had also underperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 2.76% as against Sensex's 5.87% rise.

The large-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 11070.67 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

NHPC's net profit fell 9.7% to Rs 707.58 crore on 5% decline in net sales to Rs 1615.21 crore in Q2 September 2013 over Q2 September 2012.

NHPC is a state-run hydro-power utility. The Government of India (GoI) holds 85.96% stake in NHPC (as per the shareholding pattern as on 31 December 2013).
